Partner Jeffrey Portnoy discusses the Shield Law with Representative Gene Ward

Partner Jeffrey Portnoy sat down with Representative Gene Ward and Dr. Gerald Kato, UH Associate Professor, Journalism during Ward’s program “A Word with Ward,” to discuss the country’s Shield Law.

A shield law is legislation designed to protect reporters’ privilege, including the right of news reporters to refuse to testify as to information and/or sources of information obtained during the news gathering and dissemination process.

Mr. Portnoy is currently the Chair of Cades Schutte’s First Amendment, Advertising and Media practice, as well as the  Insurance Defense and Professional Liability practice.
