Lori K. Amano

Partner

Lori is a partner in the Finance and Real Estate Department of Cades Schutte. She joined the firm in 2004.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Lori is a 1995 graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute. She obtained her B.A. from the University of Hawai`i in 1999, where she received degrees in Biology and Chemistry.

Lori earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 2004, and was salutatorian of her law school class. She received various awards including the Michael P. Porter Dean’s Scholastic Award for obtaining the number one ranking in her class during her 2L year, Dean’s Scholar Award, and the Francis Y. Sogi Fellowship Award. While in law school, she served as a co-production editor and a member of the University of Hawai`i Law Review and authored “ERISA and Federal Preemption Following Rush Prudential HMO, Inc. v. Moran: Preemptive Effects Felt in Hawai`i,” 25 U. Haw. L. Rev. 593 (2003) and “Ozaki and Comparative Negligence: Imposing Joint Liability Where a Duty to Protect or Prevent Harm from Third Party Intentional Tortfeasors Exists is Fairer to Plaintiffs and Defendants,” 26 Haw. L. Rev. 575, 2004.

Lori is a member of the Hawai`i Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before all Hawai`i courts, the United States District Court for the District of Hawai`i and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

  • Represented owners and tenants of shopping centers and office buildings with respect to retail and office leases
  • Represented owners and tenants in leasing of industrial and commercial lands
  • Represented owners in the subdivision and sale of subdivided parcels

  • Represented buyers and sellers in the acquisition and disposition of hotels, retail shopping centers, office buildings, industrial business parks, and agricultural lands
  • Represented buyers and sellers in the acquisition and disposition of condominium units and projects

  • Represented major Hawai`i banks in restructurings of various commercial mortgage loans
  • Represented major national lenders in large commercial mortgage loans
  • Represented a major Hawai`i lender in preparation of forms of consumer and equipment leases

Quiet Title and Partition Actions

  • Represented plaintiffs and defendants in quiet title and partition actions
  • Represented plaintiffs in land trust litigation

Foreclosure Actions

  • Represented major Hawai`i banks in foreclosure of commercial and residential mortgage loans
