Sean M. Smith is an associate in the Litigation Department of Cades Schutte. He joined the firm in 2009.

Mr. Smith graduated magna cum laude from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. As a law student, he externed for the Honorable Richard Clifton of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was also a member of the law review and received numerous awards, including the Michael P. Porter Scholastic Award, the Rush Moore Craven Sutten Morry and Beh Award, and CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for receiving the top grade in Torts, Appellate Advocacy, International Law, Employment Discrimination, Labor Law, Real Estate Development and Finance, Non-Profit Organizations, and Negotiable Instruments.

Prior to law school, Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army as a Chinese Linguist. He was deployed to Afghanistan with the 3/4 Cavalry from 2004-2005.

Mr. Smith is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before all Hawaii courts and the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.
