Cades Attorneys Invited to Speak on Advanced Employment Issues

Paul M. Saito and Amanda M. Jones have been invited to speak at a National Business Institute seminar on Advanced Employment Issues on December 11, 2013 at the Hawai`i Prince Hotel.

Mr. Saito will cover employer obligations under the Affordable Care Act and other recent developments in labor and employment law, including recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings and legislative and regulatory developments.

Ms. Jones will cover recent developments with workplace technology, including issues pertaining to social media and job applicants and recent National Labor Relations Board opinions and decisions. Ms. Jones will also discuss trends in retaliation and bias charges and other matters relating to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigations.

Mr. Saito and Ms. Jones are members of the firm’s Employment Law and Labor Relations practice group and serve as co-editors of the Hawai`i Employment Law Letter. Mr. Saito is a graduate of the University of Hawai`i and the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law. He is a member and former board member of the Society for Human Resource Management and serves as Vice-Chair of the Government Affairs Committee for the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai`i’s Workplace Environment and Competitiveness Committee.

Ms. Jones is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law, where she served as editor-in-chief of the University of Hawai`i Law Review. A substantial part of her practice is focused on representing companies in employment disputes and providing training and counseling on employment matters. She is also a member of the firm’s Digital Media and Internet Law practice group.
