Jeffrey Portnoy appointed newest member of University of Hawai`i’s Board of Regents
Jeffrey Portnoy, Partner, Litigation Department, has been appointed to the university’s 15-member governing board last month by Gov. Neil Abercrombie. The governor believes Portnoy’s expertise will “prove a valuable asset to the UH system” and that he is a “champion of the University of Hawai`i and a respected leader in our community.” Unfortunately, Mr. Portnoy has stepped down from his position as Judicial Selection Commissioner, as state law prohibits a person from serving on more than one state commission or board.
Portnoy’s interim appointment is subject to Senate approval for the term that expires June 30; he will then seek appointment to a full five-year term.
