HEC Seminar on Employer Use of Criminal Background Checks

Cades partners Kristin S. Shigemura and Amanda M. Jones will be briefing members of the Hawai`i Employers Council on July 22, 2015 on the topic of compliance with criminal background check laws.

Entitled “Crime Shouldn’t Pay: Avoiding Employer Liability from the Use of Criminal Background Checks,” the seminar will address recent Hawai`i court decisions regarding employer use of criminal background checks in the hiring process, as well as compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Ms. Shigemura and Ms. Jones are members of the firm’s Employment Law and Labor Relations practice group. They defend employers in litigation and in administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Hawai`i Civil Rights Commission. They also advise management on difficult employment issues and provide training for supervisors and employees.
