Daniel H. Devaney Appointed Chair of ABA’s Legal Opinions in Real Estate Transactions Committtee
Cades partner, Daniel H. Devaney was appointed as Chair, Legal Opinions in Real Estate Transactions Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law effective September 1, 2017. The 250-member Committee provides support and guidance for lawyers who render third party legal opinions in real estate finance transactions and other transactions involving real estate and for lawyers who represent clients that receive such legal opinions. The Committee, on its own and in conjunction with other committees and groups, prepares reports, presents educational programs, publishes a biannual newsletter, Opinions Matters, and monitors cases and other developments in order to work toward consistent opinion practice throughout the country.
Dan is also a contributor to Opinions Matters, and has been a member of the Committee for more than five years, and a member of the Opinion Committee of the Business Law Section for more than ten years. He was a member of the Opinion Committee of the Real Property and Financial Services Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association which prepared and presented reports on third party legal opinion issues in Hawaii for the annual meetings of the Association in 2000 and 2014.
