Cades Schutte is pleased to welcome two new partners, Trisha L. Nishimoto and Andrea K. Ushijima

Trisha L. Nishimoto is a partner in the Litigation Department and her practice includes defense of medical malpractice claims, personal injury, insurance litigation, and representation of physicians in administrative disciplinary matters. She has represented numerous clients in alternative dispute resolution and has assisted lead counsel in trying medical malpractice cases to verdict.

Ms. Nishimoto obtained her B.A. in Speech, with distinction, from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2006. She was a member of the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine basketball team and achieved numerous academic accolades as a student-athlete. Ms. Nishimoto received her law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii, in 2010. While in law school, she received the Bernard Levinson Memorial Award for the Best Constitutional Law Second-Year Seminar Paper, and served as a Technical Editor for the University of Hawaii Law Review.  As a law student, Ms. Nishimoto also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Leslie E. Kobayashi of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.

Andrea K. Ushijima is a partner in the Real Estate Department and her practice includes commercial finance, commercial real estate, and assisting clients with the nuances of Hawaii real estate law.  She represents financial institutions in commercial loan transactions, and regularly advises clients on consumer finance compliance matters.  Andrea has worked with Hawaii’s leading financial institutions to implement changes required under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and advises out-of-state financial institutions on Hawaii law compliance.  She also works on real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leases, and development projects.  Since 2016, Andrea has been the chair of the annual Legislative Update seminar for the Real Property and Financial Services Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association, and in 2020, was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Section.  Andrea also serves on the Board for Ballet Hawaii, a nonprofit organization that teaches, presents, and promotes dance in Hawaii.

Ms. Ushijima received her M.B.A. from the Shilder College of Business, University of Hawaii, and her law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii.  As a law student, Ms. Ushijima served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Susan Oki Mollway, then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, and served as the Executive Editor for Publications and Research for the University of Hawaii Law Review.​  While in law school, she received numerous awards and merit-based scholarships.
