As part of its ongoing commitment to community service and expanding access to legal resources, attorneys from Cades Schutte volunteered their time throughout the month of May in support of the Honolulu Access to Justice Room (Honolulu AJR).

For more than a decade, the firm has proudly sponsored and staffed the Honolulu AJR, helping provide pro bono legal assistance to individuals navigating the court system without legal representation. This year’s volunteer team included Kimi E. E. Andrew, Trever K. Asam, Ellen R. Ashford, Pōhai Nu‘uhiwa Campbell, Jake Honigman, Andy Z. Lei, Caitlin M. Moon, Mark K. Murakami, Reyn S. P. Ono, W. Davis Prendergast, and Nicole K. C. Yamane.

Established in 2012, the Honolulu Access to Justice Room serves as an important resource for self-represented litigants facing a range of civil legal matters, including landlord-tenant disputes, debt collection actions, and petitions for restraining orders. Through volunteer attorneys and legal professionals, the Honolulu AJR helps individuals better understand court procedures and access the legal information they need.

“The Access to Justice Room provides meaningful support to individuals facing legal challenges during what can be a difficult and uncertain time,” said Pōhai Nu‘uhiwa Campbell, a partner at Cades Schutte. “Volunteering our time and expertise is one way we can help ensure that members of our community have access to information, guidance, and resources that can make a real difference.”

Cades Schutte is honored to continue its longstanding partnership with the Honolulu AJR and remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen access to justice and serve Hawaiʻi’s communities.
