Cades Schutte LLP Names Ryan M. Hamaguchi, Cheryl L.M.T. Itagaki, and Justin M. Sugiyama to the Partnership

HONOLULU (January 2022)–Cades Schutte LLP announced the promotion of three attorneys to its partnership, effective January 1, 2022: Ryan M. Hamaguchi, Cheryl L.M.T. Itagaki, and Justin M. Sugiyama.

Wilson of the firm’s Management Committee. “Their success and accomplishments have been supported by an amazing team of lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff, in addition to previous generations that helped build the firm to what it is now. We look forward to continuing to work together for years to come.”

The following is a list of Cades Schutte’s new partners:

  • Ryan M. Hamaguchi is a member of the Corporate & Business Group. He applies his diverse experience both as a transactional attorney and as a litigator to assist clients in multiple facets of the law and help them find creative solutions to achieve their business objectives. Ryan is a member of the Hawai‘i State Bar and the California State Bar. Ryan is actively involved in various legal and community organizations, and is a co-chair of the Hawai‘i State Bar Association Civic Education Committee and an editor of the Hawai‘i Bar Journal. He previously served as the Vice President of the Hawai‘i Bankruptcy Bar Association and as a director of the Hawai‘i State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He earned his law degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law and B.B.A. from Gonzaga University.
  • Cheryl L.M.T. Itagaki is a member of the Pensions & ERISA Group. Cheryl advises and counsels clients in Employee Benefits, ERISA, and Executive Compensation, including the design, establishment, maintenance, and compliance of qualified retirement plans. Her experience in public accounting and employee benefits provides her with invaluable insight for her clients’ legal issues. She obtained her law degree and Certificate in Business Law from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, M.B.T. from the University of Southern California Leventhal School of Accounting, and B.B.A. in Accounting with distinction from the University of Hawai‘i Shidler College of Business.
  • Justin M. Sugiyama is a member of the Finance Group. Justin has a broad transactional practice including complex financing matters, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. Born and raised in Kaneohe, Justin received his B.A. in finance from Loyola Marymount University and his M.B.A., magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Georgetown Law. Prior to joining Cades Schutte, Justin was an attorney at a major international law firm in New York, and he also spent over seven years before law school working for The Boeing Company in California and Washington D.C. in various roles including proposal management, financial modeling and analysis, strategic development, and contracts management.

Ryan, Cheryl, and Justin’s promotions are part of the firm’s continued expansion throughout 2021 and 2022. This year the firm welcomed of counsel Geoffrey T. Mukae, in addition to six new associates: Ellen R. Ashford, William K. Morrison, and W. Davis Prendergast in the Finance and Real Estate department, Christine E. Nowland and Nicole K. C. Yamane in the Litigation department, and Janine M. Yim in the Trusts & Estates and Litigation departments.
