HONOLULU (January 8, 2026) – Cades Schutte LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of two attorneys in the Litigation and Finance, Real Estate, and Corporate Department of its Honolulu office. Effective January 1, 2026, Mark K. Murakami and Darene K. Matsuoka have been promoted to partner.
Mark K. Murakami is a member of Cades Schutte’s Finance, Real Estate, and Corporate Department. His practice focuses on complex real estate transactions, commercial real estate development and operations. Mark has been listed in Chambers & Partners USA Guide since 2015 as a leading Real Estate attorney in the State of Hawaiʻi and has been listed in Best Lawyers® since 2011. As a leader in the legal community, Mark has served on the Hawaii State Bar Association since 2015 and is honored to serve as President for 2026. Additionally, he serves on the Community Advisory Board for Hawaii Public Radio and on the board of Feed the Hunger Fund, a certified community development financial institution serving Hawaiʻi and the Central Valley of California.
Darene K. Matsuoka is a member of Cades Schutte’s Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on complex real estate, land use, and water resources disputes across Hawaiʻi. She represents clients in high-stakes litigation and administrative proceedings, including matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts and regulatory agencies. Her practice frequently involves issues at the intersection of litigation, regulatory process, and community engagement, requiring collaboration with clients, regulators, technical experts, and stakeholders. She has been recognized by Hawaiʻi Business Magazine as a 2025 Emerging Legal Star and listed in Best Lawyers® Ones to Watch since 2023.
