Cades Schutte LLP is pleased to announce the admission of John P. Duchemin,  Kirk M. Neste, and Summer G. Shelverton as new partners of the firm effective January 1, 2019.

John Duchemin specializes in commercial and real estate litigation, digital and information technology law, insurance defense, and first amendment advertising and media. His advocacy has twice resulted in precedent-setting victories for his clients in the state Supreme Court.  As a former member of the press, John retains a passion for free-speech and privacy issues. Before joining Cades Schutte in 2012, John worked as a litigator in the Silicon Valley office of one of the largest trial law firms in America and represented some of the world’s most prominent technology companies and venture capitalists.

Kirk Neste’s practice is diverse and covers bankruptcy, commercial real estate, construction law, employment and labor relations, environmental and insurance litigation. He is vital to the firm’s construction law practice and has exceeded expectations regarding complex matters. His professional communication in the courtroom and with his clients allow him the respect and trust by the judges and his clients. Before joining Cades, Kirk was an Associate for Faegre Baker Daniels LLP in Denver, Colorado. He represented clients in matters relating to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and represented several high-profile businesses in various commercial law disputes in state and federal court.

Summer Shelverton concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, trust and estate disputes. She is skilled in communicating complex law matters such as international estate planning, investing in U.S. real property, and conservatorship issues into a readily understandable format to accomplish her clients’ objectives.  Summer is a former chair of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Elder Law Section.  She is a current officer of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Elder Law Section; she regularly speaks to business groups and provides continuing legal education in the areas of probate and estate planning.
